
This week, Azerbaijan’s AzVirt company will start works on construction of a major infrastructure project in Serbia - Lyig-Prelina (Belgrade-South Adriatic) section of Corridor 11 highway, director of Azvirt Kamil Aliyev told APA.
To him, preparatory work is underway in connection with it and company’s employees have been seconded to Serbia: ‘The work will start this week. At present, about 40 employees of AzVirt are in Serbia’.
Aliyev said that three big tunnels would be built on the 40km-road. Construction work in mountainous areas will continue for 3 years.
Currently, AzVirt is holding talks with local companies: ‘The construction work will involve local companies and workforce’.
The agreement for the construction of the road between the Corridors of Serbia d.o.o. and AzVirt was signed in April this year. Construction of main roads is funded by a loan allocated by Azerbaijan. Loan of 308 million euros allocated for 25 years at 4% per annum. The loan agreement has been approved by the Parliament of Azerbaijan.
