German businessmen show more interest in Azerbaijan

A meeting was held in Berlin at the initiative of Eastern and Central European Society and with support of the Azerbaijani Embassy and SOCAR`s office in the country. The event brought together more than 150 businessmen and 20 young managers from various companies.

Opening the event, deputy chairman of board of directors of the Society, Marcus Felsner briefed the participants on Azerbaijan. He said Azerbaijan was an important country for Germany.

Marcus also praised the economic development of Azerbaijan. He added the interest of German businessmen in Azerbaijan increases even more. Marcus pointed out Azerbaijan, successfully integrating into Europe, had established normal economic relations with Germany.

Addressing the event Azerbaijani ambassador Parviz Shahbazov spoke of his country`s history, culture, politics, as well as Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Based on the facts the diplomat highlighted the ongoing successful economic reforms in Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. The ambassador added Azerbaijan was the most rapidly developing country in the South Caucasus. He underlined Azerbaijan constitutes 83 percent of the South Caucasus economy.

SOCAR`s representative in Berlin Elmar Mammadov spoke of energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Germany.

Editor-in-chief of Heritage magazine`s German version, chief of the Humboldt University`s department of Azerbaijani history, Eva-Maria Auch handed over the new number of magazine to the participants.

Presentation prepared by young managers about Azerbaijan`s history and culture aroused the interest of the event participants.
