
The State Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning of Azerbaijan has completed work on the preparation of master plans for 13 cities of the country, the state committee said on Monday.
The State Committee has prepared a detailed planning of the city Yevlakh, Sheki, Gah, Barda, Agdash, Ujar, Jalilabad, Masalli, Gobustan, Shamakhi, Lankaran, Ismayilli and Samukh.
'The regional development plans will be the basic documents on which various local authorities will refer in the future', the statement said.
Deputy Chairman of the committee Dovlethan Dovlethanov said earlier the State Committee is working on the preparation of regional plans for the five economic regions of the country.
"It is the development plans of Ganja-Gazakh, Guba-Khachmaz, Sheki-Zagatala, Lankaran and the Aran economic regions. We plan to complete the work on their preparation next year. It is difficult to predict the questions of coordination, but in general these plans will be accepted in 2013.
"We will continue to work in this area, as well as begin the tendering process for work on the new regions in 2012. These regional development plans in fact, will be the strategic plans of regional development for the next 20 years," Dovlethanov said.
Work on general plans of such regional centres as Balakian, Neftchala, Siyazan and others will also begin.
