Azerbaijan increases power generation

In January-May, Azerenergy (electricity generation and distribution in Azerbaijan) generated more than 9.5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity compared to about 8.7 billion during the same period last year, Azerenergy said on Monday.

Of the total electricity generated in January-May, heating plants accounted for about 8.5 billion kilowatt hours and hydropower plant more than one billion. In May, Azerenergy generated more than 1.5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity.

Also a planned power interchange with Russia, Georgia, Turkey and Iran continued during this period.
