'Azerbaijan's economy constantly develops'

Azerbaijan's economy is constantly developing due to the policy of the country's president, Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan said at a meeting of economic ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia, which was held in the Turkish city of Kars on June 9.

"With each visit to Azerbaijan, we are witnessing active development. We are pleased with the success of the brotherly country," Caglayan said.

The total gross national product of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey is $850 billion, the minister said. The total population of these countries is 90 million and the total turnover of the three countries is $430 billion, he said.

The Turkish city of Kars hosted yesterday a tripartite economic forum of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia.

Prior to the forum's start Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev held a bilateral meeting with Georgian Economy Minister Vera Kobalia. The meeting focused on issues of interest to both parties.

Mustafayev also held a trilateral meeting with Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan and Georgian Economy Minister Vera Kobalia.

The Turkish minister noted the development of relations between the three main Silk Road countries - Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia.

Earlier on Friday the Turkish city of Trabzon hosted a meeting of foreign ministers of Azerbaijan- Elmar Mammadyarov, Turkey - Ahmet Davutoglu, and Georgia - Grigol Vashadze following which a tripartite Trabzon declaration was signed.
