Azerbaijan accepts chairmanship of Coordinating Council of Heads of CIS Tax Administrations

Chairmanship of the Coordinating Council of the Heads of Tax Administrations in the CIS was transferred to Azerbaijan, head of the tax service of Ukraine, Alexander Klimenko told journalists in Baku. The city is hosting the XIX Meeting of the Coordinating Council of the Heads of Tax Administrations in the CIS.

Ukraine was chairman of the council in 2011-2012.

"Based on the achieved level of positive change, the level of innovation and professionalism of the Coordinating Board it will be led by the Minister of Taxes of Azerbaijan Fazil Mammadov in 2012 - 2013," Klimenko said.

He noted that it is very important and symbolic for both Azerbaijan and all members of the council. "This step will positively affect the work of the council, as there will be additional opportunities to move to a better level of interaction," Klimenko added.

The meeting will discuss the key performance indicators of the tax authorities, the use of a special tax system for small business entities and the simplification of tax administration procedures for property tax.

The delegates will also exchange views on the participation of the Coordinating Council in the anniversary event on the 20th anniversary of the CIS under the agreement on a free trade zone and the implementation of a plan for in connection with Phase I of the CIS economic development strategy for 2009-201.

The council's meeting will be attended by officials from the CIS executive committee, tax services of the CIS countries: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Ukraine. Participation of the leaders of the tax authorities of Latvia, Lithuania and Korea as observers is expected.
