Azerbaijan applies innovation in sphere of statistics

The State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan will implement an interactive system to obtain statistical data using geographic information systems (TAIEX), head of the department of the Data Dissemination of State Committee on Statistics Mary Amirova said on Friday at the presentation of the system.

TAIEX is an instrument for the technical cooperation and information exchange for the European Commission. This tool provides technical assistance both to member states and the new candidate countries for accession to the EU. Recently TAIEX extended its geographical scope to the European Neighbourhood Policy partner countries, which involves Azerbaijan.

The introduction of the system into the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan is expected this year.

TAIEX expert Alexander Kotsev said a project that is scheduled to be implemented with the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan, will see the introduction of software to interactively obtain statistical information on areas of the country.

Currently the necessary statistical information on the regions has already been collected and displayed in the system. Access to the database is available through a browser where the statistical information will be updated regularly.

The browser operates on the principle of an electronic map where you can get the necessary statistical information about the region by clicking on it.
