Average salary of hired workers jumps in Azerbaijan

The number of hired workers hit 1.378.9 million in April, including those in the public sector at 854,400 and the private sector with 524,500 people, the country's State Statistics Committee said on Thursday.

Some 24.3 per cent of hired workers are employed in the education sector, 19.6 per cent in the trade and transport vehicles service, 12.4 per cent in industry, 9.7 per cent in the field of medical and social services, 6.5 per cent construction and 4 9 per cent transportation and warehousing. At least 3.4 per cent carry out professional, scientific and technical work, 2.9 per cent are employed in agriculture, forestry and fishery, 1.9 per cent in the field of communications and IT and 14.4 per cent in other sectors of the economy.

According to State Statistics Committee, in April 2012 the average salary of hired workers in Azerbaijan amounted to 379.9 manat, and the figure was 379.1 manat increasing by 8.4 per cent over the year from January-April.

'Salaries are higher than average in such spheres of the economy as mining, financial and insurance activities, information and communications, professional, scientific and technical activities, as well as in construction, administrative and service sector', the report says.
