Finance ministry reports on payment of savings at Saving Bank of ISSR

During the first two days of the process of issuing lump-sum payments to depositors of the former Azerbaijani branch of USSR Savings Bank as of Jan.1, 1992, when deposits were made, Kapital Bank, which is its legal successor, has received 25,000 applications, Azerbaijani Finance Minister Samir Sharifov said on Tuesday.

"Payments have been already made on 10,000 of these applications, and another 15,000 are still being considered. For two days, depositors of Azerbaijani branch of USSR Savings Bank were paid more than 1.1 million manat," Sharifov said.

Issuance of lump-sum payments began from June 1 and carried out in 143 areas, 78 of which are located in the country's regions.

Some 91 points are located in the branches and departments of Kapital Bank, the rest in specially created zones for these purposes.

The process of getting funds will end on Dec.31, 2013. Issuing of individual lump-sum payments to depositors of the Azerbaijani branch of the USSR Saving Bank covers 2.4 million citizens of Azerbaijan, who are the owners of personal deposit accounts. According to preliminary estimates of the Finance Ministry, about one billion manat will be needed for payment of funds.
