No problem in Azerbaijan's gas supply to Russia

There is no problem with the Azerbaijani gas supply to Russia, the source at State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), commenting on the issue of a fire that occurred at Dagestan on the gas pipeline Mozdok-Kazimagomed.

The fire occurred in the early hours of Friday at the Mozdok-Kazimagomed main gas pipeline in the Kizilyurt region of Dagestan, a law enforcement source told RIA Novosti. The fire occurs along the 676 kilometre of gas pipeline in the area of the pipe with a diameter of 1200 mm after 1 a.m.

"There are no problems in the gas supply to Russia. The Russian side has not stopped receiving gas," the company said.

The contract, with a possibility of extension for the sale of Azerbaijani gas to SOCAR and 'Gazprom' was signed in Baku on October 14, 2009. According to the supplement to the contract which was signed in early September 2010 in Baku, in 2011, 'Gazprom' was to receive two billion cubic meters and in 2012 over two billion cubic meters of gas.

SOCAR and Gazprom signed a contract on sale (with a possibility of extension) of Azerbaijani gas on October 14, 2009. According to the addendum of a contract signed in early September, 2010 in Baku, Gazprom will get two billion cubic metres in 2011 and over two billion in 2012. However, the Russians did not get the full amount of planned volume last year.

Under an additional agreement signed between SOCAR and Gazprom, the volume of Azerbaijani gas purchased by Russia will exceed three billion cubic meters in 2013. The additional agreement to double the volume of gas purchased by Russia, from 1.5 to 3 billion cubic meters was signed by the parties in Sochi on January 24, 2012. Azerbaijani gas supplies to Russia started from Jan. 1, 2010.
