Average monthly pension exceed $190

The number of people receiving labour pensions, amounted to 1,275,630 in Azerbaijan as of April 1, 2012, the State Social Protection Fund (SSPF) reported on Tuesday.

Some 39 per cent (498,190 pensioners) of the people receiving labour pensions are male and 61 per cent (777,440) women. Of these, 807 941 receives a retirement pension, 333,730 are on disability and 133,959 people receive occupational pensions due to the loss of the head of household.

Serious steps to strengthen the social protection of labour pensioners have been taken in the form of reforms implemented in 2011 in the pension insurance system. It led to an increase in the average amount of the labour pension so the average monthly pension amounted to 150 manat and the average amount of labour retirement pension is 166 manat as of April 1, 2012.

The ratio of the average size of pensions in the country to the average wage was 40 per cent with the labour retirement pension at 45 per cent.
