Azerbaijan's mobile operators to introduce 4G soon

07 May 2012 [14:03] - TODAY.AZ
All three Azerbaijani mobile operators signed a protocol to introduce a 4G standard. Accordingly, the frequencies will be coordinated directly by the operator, Azerbaijani Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov told media today. The minister added that a licence is not required to introduce the 4G network.

"This issue concerned the allocation of frequencies," he said. "The work in this area has been completed."

Time was allocated to the operators to introduce 4G standard services within three months, Abbasov said. The ministry as the regulatory body will coordinate this process.

LTE technology has been chosen as the core technology of the fourth generation. 4G includes the technologies that allow data transfer in mobile networks to mobile users at the speed above 100 Mbit / s and 1 Gbit / s - stationary ones or 10 times more than in the 3G network.
