Azerbaijan starts seawater desalination from SOCAR facility

Azerbaijan has begun desalination of sea water for household and domestic use.

Deputy Minister of Environment & Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Novruz Guliyev said at a meeting with members of the Caspian-European Integration Business Club (CEIBC) that desalination of water from the Caspian Sea has already begun.

"This work has been carried out at one of the enterprises of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) - Gum Adasi NGDU. The plant for desalination of the sea water fully meets the needs of the personnel in water including drinkable water. The new project on desalination of the sea water will be designed for industry first. Then, in case of necessity it will be cleaned for the population too,” Guliyev stated.
