Dagestan proposes new coop sphere to Azerbaijan

The geographical position of Azerbaijan and Dagestan requires transport and logistics centers, Dagestani Deputy Prime Minister Rizvan Gazimagomedov told journalists in Baku on Thursday.

"Both Azerbaijan and Dagestan need these centers," he said. "The current close cooperation between us allows achieving this goal."

At present, there is interest in cooperation in such economic sectors as agriculture, manufacturing industry, horticulture, construction, establishment of greenhouses, wine-growing, tourism and others.

"Hydro-power engineering is very important for us, in particular the use of resources of Samur basin," he said.

He also stressed that there are about 10 joint projects under way.
These are the projects in the agro-industrial complex.

"Our businessmen have found each other and our main goal is to create
favorable conditions for future cooperation," he said.

Baku has today hosted the meeting of Azerbaijani and Dagestan's businessmen. The investment opportunities and the climate of the republic of Dagestan were presented as part of the business meeting.

Dagestan's delegation headed by Gazimagomedov includes the representatives of companies specializing in heavy industry, engineering, agriculture, food processing, tourism, transport and other industries.

A delegation led by Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev, which included about 45 businessmen, representing the Azerbaijani biggest holdings, business organizations, visited Makhachkala in November last year. During this visit, cooperation in
various fields of industry, agriculture, energy, tourism sector, participation in investment projects have been determined as priorities for cooperation of business organizations of Azerbaijan, Dagestan and Russia as a whole.
