Baku Metro breaks tender procedures

Account Chamber of Azerbaijan has revealed shortages in construction process of " Azadlig Prospekti" Baku metro station.

The report from the Account Chamber for 2011 , in the course of the station construction spending of budget funds in 2006-2009 was not justified. Although under the project, the station was to have columns , it was in fact built without the columns , at that this work was not submitted for expertise.

"Also within construction of " Azadlig Prospekti" station , a direct contract was  signed without relevant tender procedure with the contractor company which carried out work on territory improvement over the station. Aiming to prevent fund deficit , tender procedures were divided into several parts , work on park division were of low quality , expenditures on maintenance of constructed station’s directorate exceeded the planned sum ",- the report says.

The audit results were submitted to Baku Metro which in turn returned AZN 19.570 to budget, allocated for maintenance of constructed station’s directorate as well as low quality work on park improvement over the station ( for AZN 10.583) was carried out again at the expense of Metro’s tunnel construction department.
