Cargo transit via Azerbaijan ups

Cargo transit through Azerbaijan totaled 4.606 million tons for Jan-March 2012 or 29.96% of the volume for 2011.

In 2011 transit reached 15.9 million tons versus 9.45 million tons in 2010, 6.68 million tons in 2009, 6.595 million tons in 2008 and 5.99 million tons in 2007. As a result, last year transit grew 1.681 fold against the 2010 level.

Cargo transit reached 1.588 million tons in January, 1.5 million tons for February of 2012 and 1.513 million tons in March.

The State Customs Committee (SCC) informs that for Jan-March 2012 in the course of export and import operations it was transported 14.083 million tons of cargo (+4.05% against the 2011 same term).

In 2011 such carriages made up 59.7 million tons of cargo versus 45.6 million tons in 2010.

Over Jan-March of the year 7.318 million tons accounted for export against 34.7 million tons in 2011 and 37.7 million tons in 2010, while 2.158 million tons accounted for import versus 9.106 million and 7.9 million respectively.

Export by sea for Jan-March 2012 made up 75.000 tons, by rail 628.203 tons, by road 143.352 tons, by air 862 tons, and via pipelines 6.47 million tons.

Import included 1.377 million tons by rail, 432.244 tons by road, 350.260 tons by sea, and 4.899 tons by air.
