Azerbaijan’s minimum consumer basket calculated

The Economic Research Centre carried out alternate (non-governmental) calculation of minimum consumer basket on 10 regions of Azerbaijan.

The Centre reports that this March cost of living per capita was 170.75 manats or $217.16 in accord with exchange rate as of 1 April 2012 (0.7863 manat to the US dollar) versus 170.14 manats ($216.46) in February.

“The size of minimal consumer basket for able-bodied population was 170.75 manats, pensioners 154.03 manats, and for children (aged under 15 years old) 212.39 manats,” it was reported.

At that, the value of consumer basket was estimated in 107.03 manats, 96.39 manats, 121.55 manats respectively, and non-food basket in 38.24 manats, 35.03 manats and 73.11 manats, and services basket - 25.48 manats, 22.61 manats and 17.73 manats respectively.

In the budget package for 2012 minimum of subsistence per capita was defined at the level of 108 manats, for able-bodied population 116 manats, for pensioners 84 manats and for children 87 manats.
