Azerkimya seeks expansion of chemicals production

Azerkimya plans to complete the purchase and installation of polypropylene in 2014-2015, the head of PA Mukhtar Babayev said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Babayev noted that a contract for the construction of an assessment, which should be completed in the summer, has already been signed. Azerkimya is also considering the possibility of acquiring a new installation for the production of high-pressure polyethylene.

Babayev said about 92 percent of production is exported. However, the country's dependence on imports of finished chemical products will be reduced after the creation of a new chemical park in Sumgait.

The cost of production was reduced by 33.5 percent for over the past two years, Babayev said.

SOCAR's Azerkimya production association is engaged in chemical production and is made up of the following: Ethylene-polythene, Surface-active substances, Organic Synthesis, Mechanical repair; Institute Kimyaelmitedgigatlayihe, repair and construction management, management of transport and special equipment and storage facilities.
