AZAL aircrafts wil be open for all mobile operators' services

Mobile network operators in Azerbaijan, as well as the Azerfon operator, may provide services on the mobile communications on board aircraft belonging to national carrier, Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), which is about to conclude a roaming agreement with Azerfon, the executive director of business development and communications of Azerfon Leila Nasrullayeva told reporters on Tuesday.

Azerfon has a 10-year exclusive agreement with AZAL to provide mobile communication services on the aircraft. Voice services will be available in September with the next step advancing towards the provision of Internet services.

Azerbaijani mobile operator Azerfon, the national airline Azerbaijan Airlines and Swiss firm OnAir announced the launch of the first joint project in the CIS to provide a full range of communication services on board the aircraft.

The project is supported by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
