ECAC officials mull aviation issues in Baku

As earlier reported, on the invitation of State Civil Aviation Administration (SCAA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) top officials - president and executive secretary of the organization Catalin Radu and Salvatore Shikitano visited Baku on occasion of the 10th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s membership in this organization.

In the focus of discussions were issues of security of flights, observation of international standards of flights and prospects of cooperation between the Azerbaijan civil aviation and ECAC. The guests were informed also on the country’s civil aviation development plans.

During the visit, the ECAC officials got acquainted with the teaching-training processes in the National Aviation Academy and the activity of the civil facilities in the territory of Heydar Aliyev International Airport, after which they met with the vice-premier of republic Abid Sharifov.

The meetings held in Baku with representatives of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), discussed also the question of airport construction in the town of Khojaly, in the occupied territory of Azerbaijan. According to ECAC officials, the construction of the facility in the occupied Azerbaijani territories is illegal.

The leadership of the organization noted the importance of observance by all countries of the principles of the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention 1944), UN resolutions.
