'Bulgaria to benefit from Nabucco'

16 March 2012 [16:51] - TODAY.AZ
Bulgaria will profit from Nabucco gas pipeline project implementation, Ekonom:east Media Group (EMG) quotes Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH Reinhard Mitschek as saying.

"The country will make great profit out of the new gas pipeline, since it will provide new business opportunities, diversification and reliability of gas supplies across all transit countries," Mitschek said.

Mitschek said that Nabucco Gas Pipeline International welcomes the Bulgarian government's support to the project.

This week the Bulgarian cabinet approved an agreement between Nabucco Gas Pipeline Bulgaria EOOD and Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH (NIC), which was signed in June, 2011. The goal of the agreement is further specification of the stages of Nabucco project's implementation in Bulgaria. With the approval, the Bulgarian cabinet proposes to the Bulgarian Parliament to ratify the contract.

According to Mitschek, the agreement for support is a necessary prerequisite for the successful funding of the pipeline.

Bulgarian Energy Holding is one of the six shareholders in Nabucco gas pipeline project, which is designed to transport gas from the Caspian region and Middle East to the European countries. The project's other partners include Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas, Austrian OMV, German RWE and Hungary's FGSZ.

Gas to be produced during the second stage of Azerbaijani Shah Deniz gas condensate field development is considered as the main source for Nabucco.
