Azerbaijan Railways announces plans for holiday week

Azerbaijan Railways will continue to load and unload freight wagons around the clock in Azerbaijan during the Novruz holiday, an Azerbaijan Railways spokesman Nadir Azmammadov told Trend today.

He said that Azerbaijan Railways facilities and stations for freight wagons will work around the clock from March 20-27.

"This is being done to help businesses so they have no problems with incoming and outgoing goods during the holiday," Azmammadov said.

In 2011, the company transported 22.1 million tons compared to 22.2 million tons in 2010. About 4.4 million tons of the total volume of transported cargo fell to domestic shipments last year, export operations - 4.4 million tons, import operations - 5.5 million tons and transit goods - 7.8 million tons.
