Azerbaijan joins Connect Arab Summit 2012

Azerbaijan`s minister of communication and information technologies Ali Abbasov participated in the Connect Arab Summit in Doha, Qatar. Minister Ali Abbasov made a speech on TASIM project and cyber security issues in panel sessions and the final plenary meeting.

The summit is organized by the International Telecommunication Union in partnership with the League of Arab States (LAS), and Qatar`s Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology. The ITU Connect Arab Summit is an important opportunity for Arab States to collectively work towards improving ICT development in the region. Through such an important opportunity, the Arab world must leverage ICT to promote business opportunities, entrepreneurship and innovation and empower various social groups.

The Summit welcomes heads of state and government, ministers, chief Executive Officers and senior executives of leading regional and international ICT businesses, heads of regional and international development organizations, senior officials of the United Nations, senior officials of regional and international financial institutions, national, regional and global media companies, prominent academics and industry analysts.

During the visit Ali Abbasov held bilateral meetings with Minister on ICT of Qatar Hessa Sultan Al-Jaber, Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Egypt Mohamed Salem, Minister of Information and Communications of Jordan Basem Al-Rossan, leadership of Qatar Satellite Company, Qatar National Broadband Network Company and Qtel companies.
