Azerbaijan directs $7.6 bln to regional development

Over 6 billion manat were sent for regional development in Azerbaijan in 2011, Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev said at a conference today.

He said over 5,000 enterprises were opened and 94,000 new jobs were created, 72,400 of which are permanent.

"In general, as a result of the state program in 2009, 14,700 enterprises were commissioned, 241,000 new jobs were created, 180,000 of which are permanent. Poverty rate dropped to 7.6 percent," Mustafayev said.
