Azerbaijan's cars meet safety requirements

All cars produced in Nakhchivan automobile plant equipped with anti-lock braking system ABS and airbags, head of the plant Musa Abdullayev told Trend.

In accordance with the requirements of AZS 635-2012 national standard "The order of certification of wheeled vehicles, their equipment and parts," the anti-lock ABS system and at least an airbag is required in road vehicles (except for the four-wheel drive) imported into Azerbaijan or manufactured at home since May 1. License for the production and import of cars without these elements will not be issued since May 1.

Abdullaev noted that Nakhchivan automobile plant fully supports this decision as well as the absence of these elements in the cars jeopardizing the safety of owners and passengers of vehicles.

"Lifan cars, assembled at the plant have three stars on the evaluation of Euro NCAP [European Committee for the independent crash-test cars with the assessment of active safety and passive safety] and meet the requirements of security," Abdullaev said.
