AZAL prepares to apply Azerfon mobile services in aircrafts

According to the information of the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) Closed Joint-Stock Company, the technical preparations are underway to apply mobile communication services in Azerbaijani aircrafts for the first time.

In accordance with the contract signed between AZAL, Azerfon (Nar Mobile) and Swiss OnAir Company, wider mobile communication services will be launched in AZAL aircrafts.

"AZAL prepares to start applying in-flight mobile communication services on the basis of Azerfon mobile operator services and the relevant equipment of Swiss OnAir Company. Some technical work is underway already. Relevant experts are attracted to this work.

According to a 10-year long exclusive contract signed with Azerfon, mobile communication services will be available only in AZAL aircrafts on the basis of Azerfon services. This is the very first such project among the CIS countries. It demonstrates the development of both the national aviation and our telecommunication industry," the official of the airline said.
