Latvia keen on boosting economic ties with Azerbaijan

Latvia intends to expand economic ties with Azerbaijan, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics told journalists in Baku on Friday.

"We have strong enough economic relations. However, we would like to expand them even more," Rinkevics said. Cooperation at the bilateral and international levels were discussed at the meeting, he said.

Rinkevics underscored that Latvia will contribute to Azerbaijan's integration into EU and NATO. The talks also touched upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the situation around Iran.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said the relations between Latvia and Azerbaijan are at a high level. Baku is ready to expand cooperation with Riga also in the humanitarian and educational spheres, he said. Mammadyarov also discussed the negotiations to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
