Azeri businessmen may successfully invest in Pakistan

20 February 2012 [20:10] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani businessmen can quite well invest in Pakistan in the field of small power generating companies operating on gas and alternative energy, Azerbaijani ambassador to Pakistan Dashgyn Shikarov believes.

"Quite favorable investment climate has been established in Pakistan: low interest rates, cheap labor, raw materials, there are no restrictions on capital outflows. It is also evident in the country minimization of bureaucratic interference, coupled with a solid package of bilateral legislation, there is a positive attitude to the Azerbaijanis. I think that the representatives of the Azerbaijani business can successfully enough invest in the field of small power generating companies," Mr Shakirov said in an interview with Trend on Monday.

He said the Azerbaijani government previously presented to the Pakistani side package of proposals for the development of economic relations, which was reflected in the document signed last December at a meeting of the intergovernmental commission.

"The document reflects the measures aimed at strengthening the vector of economic relations between the two countries. It provides a range of activities aimed at developing trade, cooperation in energy, industrial and pharmaceutical sectors, mutual investments, joint ventures, etc.," Mr Shikarov said.

He also noted 2011 was certainly a success for our bilateral relations which were "developing dynamically in all directions - military, political, economic, cultural and humanitarian".

The mutual exchange of high-level delegations, meeting of the intergovernmental commission, effectively coordinated cooperation in the international arena, Azerbaijan's participation in humanitarian projects in Pakistan - all of this is a partial list of accomplishments in the field of bilateral relations, the diplomat believes. Further expansion of economic relations with the deepening of political relations will be the priority, the ambassador concluded.
