SOCAR no longer burns associated gas

State Oil Company of Azerbaijan intends to stop burning of associated gas completely, this year,   SOCAR vice-president on ecological issues Rafiga Huseynzadeh said.

According to her, SOCAR could reduce the burning of associated gas recently: “SOCAR delivered 97% of associated gas to consumers and associated gas made 3% in 2011. We plan to send 100% of associated gas to consumers. Generally, burning of associated gas must be stopped, completely”. She also noted that, extraction of SOCAR’s associated gas made 1.2 bcm.
