03 February 2012 [14:47] - TODAY.AZ
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has invested in Ukraine's economy more than $85 million since 2009, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin said yesterday within the "round table" on the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine.

He said a number of gas stations of SOCAR have been already opened in the country's different regions, and it is planned to increase their number up to 70 units.

"In January-November 2011, volume of bilateral trade totaled more than $1.3 billion. We believe that they will exceed $1.4 billion in 2012," Klimkin said.

He said Ukraine intends to enter Azerbaijan's construction market. The leading Ukrainian companies are currently negotiating on their participation in major projects implemented by the Azerbaijani government.

In particular, we are talking about participation in such projects as the construction of new stations of Baku Metro, upgrading collector systems in Baku, construction of new sports and other infrastructure facilities.
