Azerbaijan continues major repairs of railway

Azerbaijan Railways completed major repairs over 528-518-km of the Heybat –Bilajari railway section whilst also renewing the rail bed leading towards Baku-Boyuk Kesik, the company reported. In total, 11 km of the section have been repaired.

Major repairs along 317 km of the Baku-Boyuk Kesik railway were carried out at a cost of 215 million euros issued as a loan from the Czech Exim Bank . Work started on June 10, 2011 over a 97-km stretch of the Agstafa-Tatli section.

So far, major repairs have been conducted on over 50 kilometres of railway, the report said. Some 111 kilometers of the railway road will be repaired in 2012.

Specialised railway agencies No.4 and No.11 of LLC Demiryolservis of CJSC Azerbaijan Railways and the corresponding authorities of the Infrastructure Department are involved in the reconstruction work.
