The first European Games in Azerbaijan ended with a grand closing ceremony, the article of Agence France-Presse (AFP) news agency said.
The article said that the ceremony with multicolored choreography and fireworks has become an ideal completion of the first European Games.
The author of the article said that the first European Games were organized at a high level.
In addition, the article quotes the president of the European Olympic Committee (EOC) Patrick Hickey that Baku is ready to hold the Olympic Games.
“The infrastructure and organizational skills allow Azerbaijan to hold such Games,” said Hickey. “European Games have justified all our expectations.”
The European Games kicked off in Baku June 12 and wrapped up on June 28. Baku 2015 First European Games hosted 20 sports – 16 Olympic and four non-Olympic sports.
More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe came to Baku to represent their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
