The wrestling competitions among women started as part of Baku’s first European Games June 15. The medalists among Azerbaijani athletes will be announced today.
The athletes are competing in the weight category up to 48, 55, 60 and 69 kilograms on the third day of competitions.
Up to 48 kg
1/8 final - Mariya Stadnik (Azerbaijan) - Liliana Santos (Portugal)
Up to 55 kg
1/8 final - Natalia Sinishina (Azerbaijan) - Patricia Liuzzi (Italy)
Up to 60 kg
1/8 final - Yulia Ratkevich (Azerbaijan) - Taybe Yusein (Bulgaria)
Up to 69 kg
1/8 final - Nadia Mushka (Azerbaijan) - Natalia Vorobieva (Russia)
The Azerbaijani wrestlers won two sets of medals: Rasul Chunayev (up to 71 kg) and Elvin Mursaliyev (75 kg) - gold, Rafig Huseynov (80 kg) and Sabah Shariati (130 kg) - bronze, Elman Mukhtarov (59 kg) and Hasan Aliyev (66 kg) - bronze as part of the first two days of the competitions.
The European Games that kicked off in Baku June 12, will last till June 28.
There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
