The official Flame of the Baku 2015 First European Games is continuing its way around the regions of Azerbaijan to arrive in Goychay.
Hundreds of local residents welcomed the torch of Baku 2015 on May 21. At the symbolic gate of the European Games in the region, the Flame was accepted by athlete, Ramil Aliyev.
Ten torchbearers then covered the route and carried the Flame into the Heydar Aliyev Center to the sound of wild applause.
Honored Master of Sports, Namet Shirinov lit the Flame of the European Games. The Flame was then transferred to a commemorative lamp that will remain lit in the Heydar Aliyev Center until the end of the Games.
The Journey of the Flame is bringing the spirit of Baku Games across Azerbaijan from April 26. In some 48 days, the spirit of Baku 2015 will inspire 60 regions across Azerbaijan, to finally arrive in the magnificent Baku National Stadium on June 12.

Before Goychay, the Flame also traveled to the Ujar region, where it was accepted by Taghi Mammadov. Ten torchbearers carried the Flame into a square in front of the Heydar Aliyev Center to the sound of wild applause.
Coach Seymur Guliyev lit the Flame of the European Games. The Flame was then transferred to a commemorative lamp that will remain lit in the Heydar Aliyev Center until the end of the Games.
The event participants watched a footage highlighting the ceremony of the lighting of the Flame of the Baku 2015 First European Games in the Ateshgah temple.
Before Ujar, the Flame also visited Shamkir and Gadabay.
Baku 2015 European Games will gather over 6,000 athletes from 50 countries to compete in 20 sports, including 16 Olympic.
