The inaugural European Games scheduled for June 12-28 in Baku was presented to New Yorkers during a traditional parade the Turkic people held in New York.
The stand dedicated to Baku 2015 moved through the city’s streets and avenues.
The procession was attended by the Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (CCTS), Ramil Hasanov, the Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Halit Cevik and Consul General in New York, Ertan Yalcin, as well as representatives of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
The event was also attended by members of the Azerbaijani Association. The participant countries’ flags were waving during the parade.
Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place on June 12-28, 2015.
There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
Baku was awarded the Games by the European Olympic Committees in December 2012.
