Guides ready to meet guests of Baku 2015

Foreigners will not feel alone or lost in Azerbaijan during the inaugural European Games scheduled for this June in Baku.

The Land of Fire which is famous for being hospitable and friendly to all its guests is getting ready to welcome an unprecedented number of foreign tourists as the Games are set to kick off in less than 30 days.

This June, Azerbaijan is expecting to host sport fans and all those bearing an interest in the sporting history of the continent to enjoy the inaugural European Games in Baku on June 12-28.

The Games are expected to attract over 9,000 people including 6,000 athletes from 50 countries. The athletes will show their strength in 20 sports, 16 of which are Olympic.

Azerbaijanis have already voiced readiness to open their homes to visitors and assist them in traveling the country.

However for those tourists, who want professional help, might it be in Baku or the rest of the country, personal guides will be easily found as tourists companies have said to be ready to meet all tourists' needs.

During the Games there will be no problems finding guides, assures Vugar Shikhmammadov, the head of the department of Information and Public Relations of the Culture and Tourism Ministry.

"Companies engaged in domestic tourism in Azerbaijan are ready to provide guides," he said. "Guides are participating in courses at the Azerbaijan University of Tourism and Management, after which they will get a special guide card.”

Earlier, Jafar Jafarov, the rector of the Azerbaijan University of Tourism and Management, said that during the Games, universities' volunteer-students will join professional guides. "Over 500 students were registered for this position," he said.

Azerbaijan and its capital Baku are the perfect marriage of an extraordinary ancient history and modernity. East and West are meeting here creating a memorable mixture. The Land of Fire will facilitate its visa regime for its Baku 2015 guests.
